PERSONAL TRAINING SESSIONS

What are Personal Training Sessions?

Many people consider private training to meet their fitness needs. There are many reasons why you may consider personal training sessions. If you are completely new to working out, the concept scares you. You may feel like you are too out of shape to be effective at any type of exercise. You may be embarrassed to work out in front of other people. You may feel uncomfortable with the movements and not confident enough to do them in front of people. You may need a lot of motivation and attention. The reasons for a fitness coach are numerous. There is not necessarily a wrong or bad reason for wanting to look into an exercise trainer. If that is what will make you feel comfortable to take those steps and begin working out, then go for it. There is some information that may be helpful to you as you begin to think about personal training sessions.

A fitness coach has the goal of keeping you safe while creating an exercise plan that is effective for you to reach your goals. The plan should be individualized for your goals and needs. A coach should understand what you hope to accomplish and help you get there. An exercise trainer should focus on improving your overall health in a way that is safe and manageable for you. During private training, your coach will watch you work through the movements to make sure you are doing them properly. They are watching for any balance issues and always making sure you have proper form. If you are not doing a movement correctly, they will stop you and reset you so that you are doing the movement properly to avoid injury.

Your trainer is not just intending to get you to move your body, they also want to educate you on proper movement. They want to teach you how to become stronger, more flexible, and proper nutrition. Training is not about just one of those aspects. It is about all of them combined together. You will learn about gym equipment and how to use it properly so that you can learn to workout without the assistance of a trainer.

Personal trainer cost can be different based upon the trainer you want and your goals. If you are looking for a trainer that specializes in something, the personal trainer cost could be much higher. Remember, they are highly certified and knowledgeable instructors. If you are looking for a senior fitness specialist, nutritional specialist, or even a body building specialist, the cost for that type of training may be higher. A general rule of thumb is that the more specialized care you want may mean the more money it is going to cost you. That should not prevent you from seeking this type of training, just be aware of the costs.

You may be nervous at your first couple of sessions and that is normal when doing something new and different. It helps if you know what to expect from these types of sessions. When you are prepared, you may be a little less nervous. While you are looking for the right fit for you, the trainer wants to understand if they can help you meet your needs. The trainer does not want you to waste your time or money. They know quickly if they cannot help you and may recommend someone better equipped to help you with your needs. Most likely the trainer will have you fill out questions that will help them know what you want to achieve through the training. At your first meeting, the trainer will probably show you around the gym area and tell you some things about themselves so that you can get to know them a little better. They will probably ask you some questions to get to know you a little better, too. This helps to break up the tension and get you to relax a little. The trainer is always going to want to know your why. Why are you there on that day for personal training? This can help inform your trainer about short term and long term goals. You will probably talk through those goals a bit to determine a good timeline for goals. No trainer wants you to start a program with a skewed timeline in your head. They want to help you achieve your goals, not get frustrated because they are not happening fast enough. Be prepared because the trainer is going to do some assessments to determine your starting point. This will include height, weight, blood pressure, and body composition. You have to know where you started to be able to measure success. The trainer will also measure your strength, flexibility, range of motion, endurance, posture, and cardiovascular health.
